About Us

Thompson Law Advocates, P.C. helps immigrants, and their families, navigate the complex United States systems of immigration law, federal criminal defense law, and international law defense. We provide direct immigration services for family reunification, visas, work authorizations, deportation removal defense, asylum, adjustment of status to lawful permanent residency (LPR, “green card”), naturalization and citizenship and more. We specialize in providing both direct representation in federal criminal court, as well as defense attorney support regarding immigration consequences [Padilla v. Kentucky, or “crimmigration”]. In addition to these practice areas, our expertise places us in a unique position to provide defense for immigrant parents facing accusations of Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (1980) and the International Child Abduction Remedies Act (ICARA), codified at 42 U.S.C. § 11601, et seq. Our skillful and personal representation of people generates exceptional results.

Meg Miles

Meg Miles is an effective and highly trained court recognized expert Mitigator. She serves clients in our criminal trial federal courts and immigration cases and removal defense practice as a key member of the legal team providing a thoughtful and rigorous defense. Meg tirelessly investigates the history and life experiences of clients, then translates the findings into a narrative that Judges and prosecutors can understand both pre-plea and at sentencing. The difference is remarkable – avoiding either a conviction or an unnecessarily long incarceration or unjust sentence provides clients a chance to constructively move forward with their lives.

Combining her own life experiences, years of work in the high-stakes federal courts, and extensive training, Meg provides meaningful and tangible value. Having a lawyer and a skilled mitigator who can voice your experience supports better results for clients.
